Who we
are: Established in 1980, Widowed Men and Women of America (WMWA)
is a non-denominational, non-profit organization of the State of Colorado
based in Lakewood, CO. It is a club that sponsors events to encourage
its members to make new friends and share in social activities. Where we serve: WMWA currently serves more than 400 members in the Denver metro area and surrounding communities, and comprises eight Links that are based in different parts of the metro area. The average age, ratio of employed to retired persons, and number of members varies for each Link, giving each one a distinctive personality. Prospective and existing members are encouraged to visit different Links to find the best fit for their particular interests and preferences. A list of the Links and their geographical locations is shown on the Event Calendar web page. What we do: Each Link meets once a month to conduct club business. Some Links meet at a restaurant for dinner along with their business meeting. Links may also meet for social/happy hour on a weekly basis. In addition to monthly meetings, each Link schedules other activities and events such as hiking, dining out, movies, theater, concerts, picnics, fishing, bowling, travel, cards and other games, and just about anything else that constitutes a social event. WMWA distributes an all-Links calendar every quarter and members are invited to participate in the activities of other Links as well as their own.
